Avoke is a specialist hi-fi and AV distributor, supplying supporting retailers and custom installers across the UK. The company specialises in video distribution, cabling, and premium audio experiences, representing a portfolio of brands including Elipson, Tangent, Norstone, and Lumene. As a growing distributor in a competitive marketplace, Avoke sought an effective way to promote its brands to the right media without the need for a full-scale PR team.
Before adopting Brandlifi, Avoke faced a common hurdle for smaller distributors: getting their products noticed by the right journalists. “Not coming from a PR background, it was difficult to make contact with the right people, with the right products, in the right way,” explains David Anderson, Managing Director of Avoke. “We aren’t the biggest distributor and AV Industry is still growing in the UK. However, Brandlifi gives us an equal platform.”
Avoke needed a streamlined way to reach relevant media contacts, showcase professional assets, and drive awareness for its expanding product range—all without consuming too much time.
Avoke discovered Brandlifi at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show. “I was attending the show specifically to meet trade journalists, and Brandlifi was my first and last stop,” says Anderson. “When the team explained how the platform worked, it sounded perfect.”
With limited time and resources, Avoke saw Brandlifi as the ideal solution to handle PR outreach efficiently. Their goal was to generate consistent coverage for AV Industry’s brands and create awareness for new products while levelling the playing field against larger competitors.
Although new to digital PR tools, Avoke found the onboarding process intuitive. “I had plenty of questions, but everything was answered quickly,” Anderson recalls.
“As a small company, I’d never know all those contacts or which publications to approach. Brandlifi lets me reach exactly the right people with each story.”
“Despite a few teething problems- mostly me not understanding something - it was actually really easy. Uploading content is fast, and I’ve learned to be more accurate with metadata, which makes a huge difference.”
Avoke manages dedicated Press Offices for each of its brands, allowing precise targeting for different media audiences- from specialist Hi-Fi outlets to lifestyle and consumer tech publications.
“As a small company, I’d never know all those contacts or which publications to approach,” says Anderson. “Brandlifi lets me reach exactly the right people with each story.”
Avoke also takes advantage of Brandlifi’s media request feed, responding directly to journalist outreach for samples and feature opportunities. This has already led to reviews and placements they would never have achieved previously.
Since joining Brandlifi, Avoke has seen a significant increase in press coverage across its brands. “We’ve had so much more coverage than ever before,” says Anderson. “It’s heartening to see instant results and easy to share with AV Industry.” Recent examples include a product review in MacFormat for a pair of active speakers (a first-time opportunity) and coverage from TechRadar for a product Avoke wouldn’t have naturally pitched. Beyond media results, the impact has also reached retailers. “I’ve been able to show coverage to my Hi-Fi customers, which has given one retailer the confidence to stock two new ranges of speakers,” he adds.
As Brandlifi’s first customer, Avoke has played a key role in shaping the platform’s evolution. “I asked lots of questions early on about image handling and collections, and both are now far more streamlined,” says Anderson. “The reporting tools have also improved significantly. I do get a sense of collaboration with Brandlifi —it’s very comforting for a small business.”
Looking ahead, Avoke plans to make Brandlifi a condition for any new brands it represents. “There are very few ways to create so much noise about a brand with so little effort,” Anderson says. “Brandlifi is a significant marketing tool.” By refining its content strategy and learning from platform analytics, Avoke aims to keep improving how it engages journalists and maximises visibility for its portfolio.
The results speak for themselves: increased press coverage across multiple brands; direct media opportunities through journalist requests; improved retailer confidence through visible PR wins; efficient, scalable media outreach without a dedicated PR team; and enhanced collaboration with Brandlifi’s support team.
“Brandlifi empowers us with an exceptional platform that delivers unparalleled access and exposure. without consuming excessive time or resources,” concludes Anderson.
